The Essential Skin Care Guide for The Summer

The summer season is upon us, and with it are problems like dehydration, skin rashes and sweating. You cannot control the heat or humidity, but you can certainly keep your skin in fine fettle. It takes a few precautions and care to have a healthy skin during this unfriendly season.

We’ve compiled a simple summer skin care guide for you to follow this season:

  • Cleanse, moisturise, use sun screen lotion.

The importance of cleansing and moisturising your skin every day cannot be emphasised enough. Cleansing the skin every day removes dirt, grime and dead skin cells from the surface. This helps the skin breathe and prevents conditions like acne, blackheads and pimples. After cleansing, massage moisturiser lightly into the skin to keep the tissues soft and supple. About 30 minutes before stepping out of the house, slather sun screen lotion (SPF 30 or above) on the skin to prevent the harmful UV rays from tanning the skin or causing rashes or burning. Follow this routine every day for a softer, healthier skin.

  • Clean your skin with a neem oil soap.

However, you need to boost your summer skin care with a little extra. Instead of opting for chemically-laden creams that provide only temporary respite for skin problems, choose natural skin care ingredients like neem oil to care for your skin. The easiest way to incorporate neem oil in your summer skin care is to use Hamam soap. Fortified with goodness of neem oil, Hamam soap protects skin by killing all bacteria on the surface, improving tonality and texture, and making the skin more supple and radiant. Use Hamam soap every day in the shower with cool water for maximum benefit during the summer.

  • Stay Hydrated.

The skin needs moisture to repair itself and stay elastic and healthy. However, the harmful UV rays in the strong summer sunlight strip the skin of its essential oils and hydration. You must help the skin lock in moisture, and the simplest way to do this is to drink at least one litre of water every day. Apart from moisturising the skin and keeping the tissues soft, the water removes toxins from the skin in the form of sweat. If you don’t like to sip on plain water, you can add fluids in your diet through fresh juice, soup, green or chamomile tea, etc.

  • Sleep Well.

Sleep restores the skin’s tissues and boosts cellular activity. Even minor aches and pains are significantly reduced with a good night’s sleep. The better the quality of sleep, the more the skin relaxes and becomes clearer, since the cells are able to rejuvenate themselves in a better way. Sleep is also associated with an increase in the production of collagen, the essential building block for healthy skin.

  • Eat Nutritious Food.

What you eat has a direct bearing on your skin health. This summer, eat light, nutritious meals that can be digested easily. Also, eat water-rich food like cucumber, watermelon, mangoes, spinach, tomatoes, that help skin stay hydrated and eliminate antioxidant and free radical action.

We hope this summer skin care guide helps you maintain your skin’s health and keeps you looking fresh and gorgeous despite the harsh seasonal conditions.
